WHIO 1290 and 95.7 raised over $4,500 in monetary and in-kind donations for the House of Bread during its biannual WHIO Radio House of Bread Drive.

The initiative started as a virtual fundraising campaign on February 8th and ended on February 24th, 2021 with a full-day radio broadcast focused on the House of Bread, the organization’s mission and story, asking people to contribute online or donate goods at a designated drop-off location next to the Dayton Mall.

Breaking the previous records, the 2021 WHIO Radio House of Bread Drive helped raise over $3,000 in checks and online donations and over 2000 lbs. of food and essentials that are critical for the operations of the organization.

“WHIO radio is proud to be a media partner of the House of Bread. The need for food for families in the region was always high, but now critical due to the pandemic, and we’re honored to be part of the work they do,” said Nick Roberts, Director of Radio Operations and WHIO Radio Program Director.

House of Bread is a non-profit community kitchen serving hot, nutritious, lunchtime meals to anyone in need 7 days a week in Dayton, Ohio. The organization was founded in 1983 and to this day follows its mission to prevent hunger and serve as a bridge to beneficial community resources.
