DAYTON, OHIO (July 20, 2018) — WHIO personalities Larry Hansgen and Kirstie Zontini rallied together with sponsors McAfee Heating and Air to raise money and donations for the House of Bread.

WHIO Radio spent the morning broadcasting live, engaging with listeners and asking them for monetary and item donations. The drive raised over $ $7500 and donors filled three vans with donated items that the center desperately needed.

“The power of WHIO Radio is amazing–Melodie Bennett ( Executive Director at the House of Bread) asked for butter–and folks went out and bought butter.  Melodie asked for basketballs, folks literally stopped and bought them.  All the needs on the House of Bread list were fulfilled–from non-perishable food items to teddy bears to other useful items such as paper towels and plates and toothpaste,” said Karen Kelly Brown of Cox Media Group.

“Thank you all, so very very much.  It’s wonderful to have such great supporters of our mission to offer meals with sides of kindness and compassion to our neighbors,” said Bennett.

This semi-annual drive is a partnership between Cox Media Group and House of Bread. Listen to AM 1290 and News 95.7 WHIO for more information about this program.

About the House of Bread:
The House of Bread was founded with the belief that no one deserves to go hungry. Over 30 years since the first meal was served, the House of Bread today operates with that very principle. They prevent hunger by offering a hot, nutritious, lunchtime meal 7 days a week. Staff and volunteers work together, primarily using donated food, to prepare the meal each day.
