November 7, 2017 (Dayton) — Net News Check-an inside media publication-released a report about social media in the Miami Valley and explained how our local properties dominate compared to other TV, media and radio stations.

Cox Media Group-owned WHIO leads the Dayton, Ohio market with three times as many social media actions than its next nearest competitor in the past six months according to data from audience insight firm Shareablee.
WHIO, a CBS affiliate, posted almost 2 million social actions in that period, accounting for almost half (46%) of the total engagement generated in the market’s total 3.7 million actions. Ninety-four percent of its overall actions werre on Facebook.
The Dayton Daily News, also owned by Cox, was a distant second behind WHIO with just over a half a million social media actions in that same time period.
WHIO tops the market in total fans/followers with almost 400,000 with the Dayton Daily News trailing slightly behind with just over 200,000.
WHKO-FM, the country music station owned by Cox, ranked first in the market on Instagram with more than 21,000 actions, while WHIO led Twitter actions with more than 90,000.
